Fruit compote

This is such an easy recipe to make. I usually use overripe fruits and I don’t add any sugar.

Ingredients:

  • Two peaches

  • Two plums

  • Lemon juice (half even less depending on your taste preferences)

  • Water to add during cooking

Method:

  1. Dice the overripe peaches and plums and keep the skin on if you like otherwise if your going to serve it to your little one remove it beforehand;

  2. Add a bit of lemon juice;

  3. Add water little by little by letting the water evaporate first; leave it to simmer until your fruit is cooked.

    The fruit will appear very mashy once it’s cooked. Leave it to cool before serving it.

    TIPS:

    I find this a great topping for pancakes and/or plain yoghurt or just to eat it as it is.

    I sometimes add the compote in my pancakes recipe which you can find here.

    Compared to jams and/or compote this does not have any added sugar but only naturally occurring sugar from the fruit.

    It is a great and new way to let your child have fruit in a different way, especially if a bit picky.
